Standardized Infant NeuroDevelopmental Assessment (SINDA)

SINDA is an assessment tool for infants aged 6 weeks to 12 months corrected age to assist early detection of infants at high risk of neurodevelopmental disorders. SINDA may be applied by professionals involved in the early detection of neurodevelopmental disorders, for instance (developmental) paediatricians, child neurologists and paediatric physiotherapists.

It is the first developmental instrument to allow a comprehensive (360 degree approach) including “all” dimensions of development. It has three scales: a neurological (28 items), developmental (15 items per month of age; total 113 items) and socio-emotional scale (6 items). SINDA’s application is relatively easy and quick. SINDAs psychometric properties (reliability and validity) are good.

SINDA’s manual allows the assessor to learn to apply SINDA without the need of a training course.
